A sharp edge, with the angle held for you.
A magnetic base sets the angle. A diamond disc does the work. No whetstone to master, and nothing dragged through a pull-through.
The angle is the whole craft of sharpening. So we built a base that holds it for you.
Three steps, a few minutes.
Set it. Roll it. Polish it. Then a minute a week keeps the edge.

Set the angle
Rest the knife against the magnetic base on the side marked with your angle. The magnet keeps it still.

Roll the #400 disc
Light pressure along the edge. Turn the knife and repeat until you feel a fine burr along its length.

Polish with #1000
The fine disc refines the edge. After that, a short touch-up each week is all it asks.

The right angle for each knife.
Unsure? 20° suits most kitchen knives.
How it compares.
Every way of sharpening has a trade-off. Here is ours, plainly.
| Steady Hone | Pull-through | Whetstone | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angle | Held by the magnetic base | Fixed by the slot | Held by your hand |
| Learning | Minutes | None | Weeks of practice |
| On the edge | Even, gentle passes | Scrapes as you pull | Gentle |
| Mess | None | Metal dust | Water and slurry |
What you receive.
- The roller. Wood body with a #400 diamond disc to reshape the edge and a #1000 diamond disc to polish it.
- The base. Magnetic, with four angle settings: 15°, 18°, 20° and 22°.
Made for straight-edge steel kitchen knives. Not for serrated, bread, ceramic or single-bevel knives, or scissors. Very small paring knives may not sit well on the base.

Before you decide.
Will it actually sharpen my knives?
Yes, on straight-edge steel kitchen knives. The first session on a very dull knife takes the longest, often 5 to 15 minutes, because the edge is being reshaped to the angle. Continue until you feel a fine burr along the whole edge, then polish. After that, touch-ups are quick.
Is it safe for good knives?
Every sharpener removes a little metal; that is how an edge is made. The base keeps the angle steady, so there is no wobble as with freehand sharpening. Use light pressure: 15° for thin blades, 20° for German-style knives.
When will it arrive?
Shipping is complimentary and usually takes 7 to 12 business days. For Christmas, order by Friday, December 4.
And if it isn't for me?
You have 30 days to return it. Gifts bought by December 24 may be returned until January 31.
Does it work on serrated knives?
No. It is made for straight edges. Serrated, ceramic and single-bevel knives need a different tool.
